Organizing your home is parallel to getting your entire life organized.

How could that be? Well, its simple, and it’s psychological. When you start decluttering things that no longer belong in your home, then you mind starts to clear a little too. When your surrounded by stuff, it can weigh you down. Have you ever heard of Fung Shei? It states that the location of an item in your home can affect your mind – negatively or positively. According to Fung Shei, you shouldn’t put your bed against a wall. You should be able to access the bed from both sides. You should also have it in the center of the room so that energy can flow through that room. It is a very zen practice, but I think we could all learn a thing or two from it.

When you start removing items that you no longer need, it makes room for things you do need. I’m not saying to donate all your things to the local Goodwill by any means. You spent your hard earned money on your possessions. Instead, post items for sale on your city’s Facebook Marketplace or local yard sale sites. You can post on Ebay, Craigslist, Etsy, and the list goes on. Make sure to Google the item first to see what it is selling for before you just post it without doing your research.

If you take this route, phone a friend to help you. This is no easy task, and can sometimes feel daunting. Right now, I have a full store in my home with no motivation to sell any of it. We could really use the extra cash, too. So this advice comes with a warning.

Just because it can seem daunting to post these things for sale for me, doesn’t mean it has to be that way for you. I also spent years building a yard sale group and have posted hundreds of things for sale. I’m in the phase of burn out. That may not be the case for you. When I first started out selling things online, I got a rush from it. It was so invigorating until I filled up my house with things I collect from junk removal.

This is my experience, not yours. Im just being 100% truthful. The people on YouTube tell you to declutter and post your things for sale. They never mention what that actually looks like.
